Handling horse colic

Everyone that has a ranch will also get to have some horses that he or she will breed there and you should know that as much as you love your horses, you will be exposed to a lot of unpleasant scenarios if you will not be careful with the food that you will let them eat or feed it yourself. Nowadays, because of the fact that you cannot really let your horses run away in a wide open green field, the food that you can buy from the animal stores will let them in on the danger of getting horse colic.

It is believed that the disease is caused by parasites and when it comes to the price for such an operation, it can be pretty high if the number of horses that you have is high.

Horses nowadays don’t get to eat the healthy foods that they were let in on in the past and that is why most of them will get to have their digestive system affected. You won’t get to see too many horses out there that are just running free on a green field and eating grass from it.

That is why you will need to be very much careful with the signs of horse colic and if your horses are showing them, then get them to the vet as soon as possible.

Horse colic or equine colic is the number one cause of death in horses and when the gut of the horse will be bloated, the imminence of the disease will be much tensed. Gas will most of the times cause this. There are many things that can cause this disease in a horse and they number the twisting of the guts, wind-sucking, a rapid change in the horse’s diet and many more. If you are careful with the food that you are feeding your horse with and you will only feed them with natural foods, then you will never be let in on such problems.

Horses that are looking at their flanks might have some trouble with their stomachs and this is a sign that you should intercept and act accordingly. If the horse has twisted guts, then you will see the horse being in a lot of pain. The surgery will only be considered when cases of horses with a twisted gut will be presented to the veterinarian.

Fiber is to be considered in order to keep your horse on the safe side. If your horse gets to eat natural foods and you have a wide green field of grass he can run and eat freely on, then things should be ok.
